WandaVision + The Science of Beauty + Knitting

Hello, all! I just wanted to drop in with a little update. Things have been busy (and cold, so much snow!) around here. I’m having an incredibly good 2021 work-wise, which is wonderful considering 2020 was absolutely terrible on that front (I had to quit everything when lockdowns hit and build up my freelance business back up from zero).

Over at Wired, I’m writing a column called Casual Gamer every other week. Last week’s installment was about why I don’t mind waiting a year for a thoughtful easy mode on notoriously difficult games (in this case, Control). I’m also recording Desi Geek Girls on a regular schedule with my wonderful co-host Preeti Chhibber (you can sign up for her newsletter here); right now, we’re talking all things WandaVision, so follow along if you’re watching as well.

I’ve been trying to make more room for audiobooks and podcasts in my life. I finally finished the 30-hour audiobook To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini, and while it was good but a bit overly long, Jen Hale’s narration got me through it with ease. I’m also loving Allure’s The Science of Beauty podcast, which works very well for my brain, if you are also into skincare and science. As far as games, I’m still playing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. It’s such a long game, but it’s also just fantastic and I’m still enjoying it 70+ hours in.

Finally, I’ve been knitting a whole lot, which has been fantastic for my mental health, and for putting the phone down and just not thinking.
