My new PBS show, FAR OUT, premieres today!

Hello, all. It feels so strange and wrong to be doing promo in the midst of all that is going on, but my new show premieres today.

Please stay safe and hug the children in your life as tightly as you can.

FAR OUT, my new YouTube show from PBS

My new show Far Out focuses on the next 50ish years in science and technology. The first episode is on aging, and we'll release new episodes every three weeks. This show is for adults, though most episodes are appropriate for kids (you'll know by the topic which ones to avoid).

If you're interested, please watch — and subscribe if you'd like to see more!

Sword Stone Table is up for a Locus Award!

I'm really excited that the anthology I co-edited, Sword Stone Table, is up for a Locus Award for Best Anthology!

Star Trek, all the time!

I was lucky enough to attend the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiere in New York a couple of weeks ago. The show is absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it. If you're new to the franchise, it's a great place to start.

We also talked about Star Trek: Picard on Desi Geek Girls, so feel free to listen if you're interested.

This week, Swapna and Preeti obsess over the Picard & Q journey, and break down all that incredible character work in the last two episodes of Star Trek: Picard season 2. They also talk about the Percy Jackson casting, that horrible Saved by the Bell reboot news, and the last Obi Wan trailer.

Learning Curves in Video Games

Over at Wired, I discussed why I am actually sticking with a game, even though I'm dying a lot. What separates Rise of the Tomb Raider from a game like Elden Ring?

Here's what I recommend

I just started The Silent Sea, a Korean sci-fi show on Netflix involving a group of astronauts who have to return to an abandoned moon base to retrieve mysterious samples. So far, it is excellent.

I'm finishing up The Excalibur Curse by Kiersten White on audio, the third book in her amazing Guinevere trilogy. Highly, highly recommended!

I also read The Book of Night by Holly Black. It's very slow in the first third, but if you stick with it, the pace picks up and it's well worth reading.

Science Videos

Reminder that I post science videos 4-5 times a week (a little less often right now as we're gearing up for the show's launch) on social media.
