Meet my space newsletter, Ad Astra
It's why things have been quiet over here
Meet Ad Astra
For the past couple of years I’ve been working quietly (and not so quietly, considering it soft launched last year) on a new project: Ad Astra.
Freelancing and journalism have been difficult for a long time, and I’ve been wanting to step away from the industry for awhile. I wanted to get back to writing about space and science as my main focus, and I missed writing explainers.
That’s why I’ve decided to build Ad Astra. It’s my YouTube channel and newsletter. (Yes, I have heard those of you who dislike video loud and clear, and no it doesn’t cost anything.) I’m still doing vertical video as well.

Generally I post YouTube videos two to three times a week, and newsletters go out once a week (but the RSS feed and posts are updated whenever there is video). Every Thursday evening, I do a weekly space news roundup on YouTube, and the corresponding newsletter goes out Friday morning.
I’d love it if you’d check it out; here’s last week’s news video and corresponding newsletter!
I also post previews of upcoming missions and break down ongoing news (I think I posted about six videos on Intuitive Machines’ moon landing.)
(This doesn’t mean I’m finished with freelancing — I still adore writing for Wired, Fast Company, NPR, and guest hosting and doing the news for Science Friday. This just means none of those are my main focus anymore.)
If you haven’t checked it out, please do, and if you like it, I’d love it if you subscribed! As an independent creator, that makes all the difference
